9-5
clip producing
The task for this project was renewing an existing music video -
both visually and conceptually. The music video that was chosen is Dolly Parton's "9 - 5".
In the 80's the video was considered feministic for its portrayal of women fighting for their right to have a career, in a world of men. However, it seemed that the way they visually represented those women is old fashioned - they were wearing high heels and suggestive suits whereas the men are wearing elegant clothing, suggesting higher positions.
In the new version, both actors and actresses were dressed in unisex sport-elegant clothing which is appropriate and comfortable for the workspace. By removing the gender visual differences, the hierarchy dissolved.
This project was a teamwork of me and 3 other students, it was very inspiring and very instructive to work together. In this project I dealt with production, casting, dressing, filming, editing, colorization, direction and art direction.
Done during Post - Production Course, second year, Shenkar College.
