Point of view

Portrait illustration

Ever since I can remember myself, it was hard for me to come across homeless people.  Every time I saw them even from a distance, I had mixed emotions about them, ranging from fear to pity.

A year ago I heard about Mor Shaal, a photographer that had an interesting initiative. In her project, she took authentic pictures and videos that tell the stories of homeless people around Tel Aviv.  Since following her project, my perception of homeless people changed. I could see their point of view and I didn't have bad feelings towards them.

In my project I was inspired by Mor's initiative. I drew Stas, Reuven and an anonymous homeless whose glare caught my eye. The assignment was to make a series of images that were inspired by another artist. Technique- acrylic painting on paper.

Done during Illustration Course, first year, Shenkar college.

*Since, Mor and I have continued the project, photographing and drawing homeless people after rehabilitation.
